These
nine winners were chosen from a field of 24 applicants by a panel
of judges representing a wide spectrum of perspectives on the planning
profession. Judges included Jenifer Young-Sadowski (senior
planner, CH2M Hill); Paul Rogerson (planning director, City
of Shelton); Gene Peterson (principal, RH2Engineers); Chris
Branch (senior planner, Highlands Associates), and Amy Tousley
(planner/proprietor, ALTernatives, Inc).
Eight
applications were selected for awards in multiple categories. The
Physical Plans category received the most applications, 10, while
Western Washington University entered the only student proposal.
(The award in the Student category, nevertheless, was truly deserved,
according to observations by the judges.)
